Making Big Purchases in the “Real World”

Big Ticket ItemsCongratulations!  You just inherited $750,000!  That is surely a lot of money!  You have are going to buy some big ticket items with your new found money!  Make sure you buy at least 1 of everything on your list: a cell phone, a computer or tablet, a car, a house, a refrigerator, a washer and dryer, a TV, a couch, a dining room table, a bed, a vacation package, and insurance for the house and for the car.  Life can be great in the real world with all of these choices, and it’s even sweeter when you have the funds to pay for it all 🙂

Be sure to record your purchases on  your shopping list.  Don’t forget your calculations because if you don’t have enough money, the bank WILL charge you an INSUFFICIENT FUNDS fee.

Also, you will have to buy homeowner’s insurance and car insurance.

How to calculate your car insurance:

  1. Round the price of your car to the nearest ten thousand.
  2. Then find 1/10 of that amount.
  3. That is how much you will pay for car insurance.

How to calculate your homeowner’s insurance:

  1. Write the digits in the millions, hundred thousands, ten thousands, and thousands place of your home price.  That forms a 3 or 4 digit number.
  2. Add $1,215 to your sum in step #1.
  3. That is how much you will pay for homeowner’s insurance.
