About Mrs. Dixon

Ms. Payne

A native of San Antonio, Mrs. Dixon grew up spending many weekends on a local air force base.  After graduating from high school, she moved to Atlanta to pursue a Business Administration degree at Oglethorpe University.  She spent several years working on websites and intranets for various corporations and freelance photographing weddings, events, and portraits before shifting her focus to young people.  At that point, she moved to Washington, DC to pursue her Masters in Education, and then launched her teaching career.  Over eight years, she has worked with elementary students to make their learning relevant, engaging, and meaningful.  Having taught 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th grade, she enjoys teaching math and building in her students a solid foundation that will bring them success in middle school, high school, and beyond.   She brings her wealth of experiences into the classroom in order to help youth see their potential, realize academic success, and make positive choices concerning their futures!

Mrs. Dixon has fostered significant growth in her students in the areas of mathematical procedures, writing, and reading fluency. She not only uses data to drive instruction, but she also implements strategies to challenge advanced students.  Each year, she incorporates more technology and a real world focus to keep students’ interest, fill in gaps, and ultimately help more students achieve! Not only does she aim for growth in her students, but growth in herself and the teams she is a part of as well.
